Kevin O'Brien
Appreciation Award
July, 2010

I would like to nominate T. Kevin O'Brien for a CMH-17 award. Kevin served as the first co-chair of the Disbonding/Delamination task group (then Debonding/Delamination task group) since its start (probably 2001) until I took over his position in March 2007. While Kevin was the co-chair Vol. 1 section 6.8.6 on Fracture toughness properties was rewritten by James Reeder. Also Vol. 1 section 6.9.4 on Fatigue fracture toughness was written by Isabelle Paris. Further Jeff Schaff wrote Vol. 3 chapter 8.7.4 on the Calculation of strain energy release rates. Kevin himself contributed by writing Vol. 3 chapters 12.6.4.1 on Durability and damage onset analysis and the corresponding case studies in chapter 12.9.3.1.

Waruna Seneviratne

Appreciation Award
July, 2010

This award is being given to Waruna Seneviratne in appreciation of his excellent work on the “Durability and Damage Growth Under Cyclic Loading” section in the Damage Resistance, Durability, and Damage Tolerance chapter of Volume 3. Specifically, his updates addressed approaches for demonstrating reliability of complex structures, including load enhancement factors. These updates brought additional breadth and clarity to a topic that is highly useful to industry and critical to safety of composite aircraft structure.

Steve Ward

Steve Ward has worked very hard on the M&P specifications by holding up the perfect and reminding us of the ideal to which we are aspiring.  I think he deserves recognition for his spec work.
