The Additive Manufacturing (AM) group are custodians of Volume 7 of the Handbook. All CMH-17 Coordination groups share similar goals and objectives and they include the following:
- Provide material data (physical and mechanical) that's tied to material and process specifications,
- Description on how to generate the data (M&P control, test matrices, statistical methods) and
- Guidelines on how to use the data (design, manufacturing, maintenance, best practices).
The initial release of the Volume will focus on fused filament fabrication and selective laser sintering of non-metallic polymer technology.
The new volume focused on additive manufacturing will be similar to the other CMH-17 volumes and include the following information:
- Data (physical and mechanical) tied material and process specifications,
- Description on how to generate the data (M&P control, test matrices, statistical methods) and
- Guidelines on how to use the data (design, manufacturing, maintenance, best practices).
